Terms of Service

Effective May 1, 2026  ·  Banning, California

01Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and High Tribunal of the Coming Ruin ("the Tribunal," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of hightribunal.org, the waiting-chamber application process, member areas, communications, and any related services (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing the Services, requesting entry, creating an account, or clicking a magic-link, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

02Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to form a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction. You must not be barred from the Services under U.S. or other applicable law.

By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is true, accurate, current, and complete.

03Nature of the Tribunal

High Tribunal of the Coming Ruin is not a church, religious organization, or licensed counseling service. The Services are a private gathering and a forum for ideas. Nothing posted, sent, or shared via the Services is legal, medical, psychological, financial, or spiritual-care advice, and you should not rely on it as such.

Membership is by application and at our sole discretion. We make no representation that any application will be accepted.

04Application, Admission & Decline

4.1 Waiting Chamber

When you submit the entry form, you join a queue of applicants. Submission grants you no membership right.

4.2 Decline & 90-Day Reapplication Rule

We may decline any application for any lawful reason or no reason. If your application is declined, you may not reapply for ninety (90) days from the decline date. A premature reapplication will be rejected automatically; repeated attempts to circumvent the cooldown (including via alternate emails or aliases) may result in a permanent bar.

4.3 Magic-Link Authentication

Admission and certain administrative access are granted through one-time, time-limited magic-link emails. Do not share, forward, or post these links. A magic link is the equivalent of your signature; anyone holding it may act as you until it expires.

05Accounts & Security

  • Keep your credentials and magic-link emails confidential.
  • Notify us immediately at the contact below of any unauthorized access.
  • You are responsible for all activity occurring under your account.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts to protect the Services, our members, or the integrity of the Tribunal.

06Acceptable Use

You agree not to, and not to attempt to:

  • Violate any law, regulation, or third-party right.
  • Impersonate any person, misrepresent your affiliation, or evade the 90-day reapplication rule.
  • Harass, threaten, dox, or incite violence against any person.
  • Post unlawful, defamatory, infringing, hateful, sexually exploitative, or deceptive content.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services without our prior written consent.
  • Defeat, bypass, or interfere with security, rate-limiting, bot-mitigation, or authentication mechanisms.
  • Scrape, crawl, mirror, or harvest data from the Services using automated means without our prior written consent.
  • Use the Services to develop a competing product or to train machine-learning models without our prior written consent.
  • Upload viruses, worms, or other malicious code, or transmit unsolicited commercial communications.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate access for any violation, with or without notice.

07User Content

Anything you submit through the Services — application answers, profile fields, messages, etc. ("User Content") — remains yours. By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting), display, and use it solely to operate, secure, and improve the Services and to communicate with you.

You represent that you have all necessary rights to grant this license and that your User Content does not violate these Terms or any law.

We are not obligated to monitor User Content but may review, edit, or remove it at our discretion.

08Our Content & Intellectual Property

All text, graphics, logos, sigils, marks, code, layouts, and design elements of the Services — including "High Tribunal of the Coming Ruin," the Tribunal sigil, the Early Principles, and the First Notice — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes consistent with these Terms. All other rights are reserved.

09Communications

By providing your email address, you consent to receive transactional and administrative emails relating to your application, account, and membership (e.g., magic-links, admit/decline notices, security alerts). These messages are not marketing and you cannot opt out of them while you maintain an active application or account.

10Third-Party Services

The Services rely on third-party providers for hosting, security, storage, email delivery, and authentication. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of these providers. Your use of those services may be governed by their own terms.

11Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; OR THAT THE SERVICES OR SERVERS ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

12Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL HIGH TRIBUNAL OF THE COMING RUIN, ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, CONTRACTORS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100.00). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

13Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Tribunal and its officers, members, contractors, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right.

14Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access — including any pending application — at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, and 16) shall survive.

15Governing Law & Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The federal and state courts located in Riverside County, California (the county in which Banning sits) shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to arbitration under Section 16, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there.

16Dispute Resolution; Arbitration; Class-Action Waiver

16.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at legal@hightribunal.org with a written description of the dispute and to attempt to resolve it informally for at least sixty (60) days.

16.2 Binding Arbitration

If the dispute is not resolved informally, you and we agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, seated in Riverside County, California, in the English language.

16.3 Class-Action Waiver

You and we agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of representative or class proceeding.

16.4 Exceptions

Either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court for infringement of intellectual-property rights.

16.5 Opt-Out

You may opt out of the arbitration provision in this Section 16 by sending written notice to legal@hightribunal.org within thirty (30) days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, the email used to access the Services, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out.

17Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the Services or by email. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

18Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.
  • Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force.
  • No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them without restriction.
  • Force Majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures due to causes beyond our reasonable control.
  • Notices. We may notify you via the email associated with your application or account, or by posting on the Services.
